Jewellery Pouches Wholesale: Sizes, Prices and MOQ in India

Most jewellers we talk to don't think about pouches until the last bundle runs out. Then the festive rush is a week away, the counter needs 3,000 pouches with the store name on them, and the nearest wholesale market only has plain maroon velvet in one size. That size is too big for a pair of studs and too small for a bracelet.

We have been cutting and stitching bags at our Mumbai bag factory since 1996, and jewellery pouches are one of the smallest things we make. That is exactly why buyers get them wrong. A pouch costs eight or ten rupees. The piece inside it might cost eighty thousand. If the drawstring pulls out, the print smells of solvent or the pouch leaves a mark on silver, the customer blames the store, not the pouch maker.

This guide is what we tell jewellers, online jewellery brands and gifting companies who come to us for jewellery pouches wholesale. It covers which material to pick, what size fits what piece, honest price bands from 500 to 5,000 pieces, how logo printing works on a pouch that is only 8 cm wide, and how many days a bulk order really takes.

Who buys jewellery pouches in bulk, and why it changes the spec

The same word "pouch" covers four very different jobs. Before we quote, we always ask what the pouch will actually do, because the answer changes the fabric, the size and the budget.

  • Counter packaging for daily sales. A store selling rings, studs, nose pins and light chains goes through pouches fast. Here the pouch has to be cheap, branded and available in two or three sizes. Volume is high, often 2,000 to 10,000 pieces a quarter.
  • E-commerce and Instagram brands. The pouch sits inside a mailer box and is the first thing the customer sees. Print quality and colour matter more than the last rupee of cost, and the pouch often gets photographed for reviews.
  • Gifting and hampers. Corporate Diwali gifts, wedding return gifts and loyalty programmes need something that looks like a gift on its own. This is where structured cases make sense.
  • Repair, exchange and karigar returns. Service desks need a sturdy, plain pouch that can be written on or tagged. Nobody sees it except the staff, so a basic non-woven pouch is fine.

A store that mixes these up usually overspends on the counter pouch and underspends on the gift. Buying one satin pouch for everything is the classic version. Splitting the order into a basic branded pouch for daily sales and a smaller run of cases for bridal customers often brings the total packaging bill down, and the bridal customers get something better.

Pouch materials compared

Buyers ask us about velvet, satin, cotton, jute and non-woven, plus structured PU-leather cases. Here is how they compare in practice. The cost column is relative, because velvet and satin prices swing a lot with fabric quality and we would rather not quote numbers for lines we do not make as standard.

In our own factory we make two jewellery lines in-house: soft non-woven drawstring jewellery pouches and structured PU-leather cases with velvet-lined interiors. If you specifically want velvet or satin, tell us at the start and we will be straight about whether we can do it at your quantity, rather than promising and outsourcing it quietly.

Why we push non-woven for counter pouches

Non-woven polypropylene is the same fabric family we use across our non-woven bag range. For a jewellery pouch it has three practical advantages. It takes a screen print cleanly, it does not shed fibres onto stones, and it comes in many stock colours, so black, beige and maroon are always available without waiting for a dyed roll.

For pouches we steer buyers away from the thinnest fabric. Under the Plastic Waste Management (Amendment) Rules, 2021, non-woven carry bags must be at least 60 GSM from 30 September 2021. A small pouch is not a carry bag in the usual sense, but we do not go lighter than that anyway, because thin fabric tears at the drawstring channel within a week of counter use. If you want the full background on GSM and the rules, our non-woven GSM compliance guide goes through it.

When a structured case is worth the money

A zip-closure jewellery case has a rigid PU-leather shell, a full zip, and a velvet-lined interior with ring rolls and elastic loops. It costs roughly fifteen to twenty times a non-woven pouch. That is too much for a pair of silver studs, but for a bridal set or a corporate gift it is the thing the customer keeps on their dressing table for years, with your logo debossed on the lid.

Jewellery pouch sizes: what fits what

The most common mistake we see is one size for everything. A ring rattling around in a 12 x 15 cm pouch looks cheap, and a chain forced into an 8 x 10 cm pouch kinks. Our standard drawstring sizes are 8 x 10 cm, 10 x 12 cm and 12 x 15 cm, and we cut custom sizes when the quantity is there.

Pouch size (W x H)What fits comfortablyTypical buyer
8 x 10 cmRings, stud earrings, nose pins, small pendants without chainDaily counter sales, online orders of single pieces
10 x 12 cmDrop earrings on a card, pendant with a thin chain, toe rings, kids' braceletsFashion jewellery brands, silver stores
12 x 15 cmBracelets, chains up to about 20 inches folded, small earring and pendant setsMixed-piece orders, gifting add-ons
Custom, around 15 x 20 cmMangalsutra, heavier chains, light necklace setsGold and bridal counters
PU case, approx. 15 x 12 x 6 cmMixed set: rings, earrings, a bracelet and a chain on hooksBridal gifting, corporate and wedding gifting

A quick way to check: put the piece in whatever card or insert it ships with, lay it on the pouch outline, and leave about 1.5 cm above the item. The drawstring channel eats that space when the pouch closes. If you sell bangles, a soft pouch is the wrong format. Bangles travel better in a box, and we make bangle and jewellery box covers for exactly that.

Most stores do well with two sizes. Order the larger quantity in 8 x 10 cm and a smaller run in 12 x 15 cm. Three sizes only make sense once you are buying 5,000 pieces or more a year, because each size is a separate cutting setup and a separate print screen position.

Jewellery pouches wholesale price in India

These are the bands we quote most often from our factory. They are indicative, exclude GST and freight, and assume a single-colour logo on one side and a stock fabric colour. We confirm the exact figure on the quote once we know size, print and delivery city.

Production time starts after artwork approval, not from the day you send the enquiry. For a wider view of how quantity breaks work across all our bags, see the bulk pricing page.

What pushes the price up

  • Extra print colours. Each colour is a separate screen and a separate pass. A two-colour logo adds a rupee or two a piece at 500 units and much less at 5,000.
  • Printing both sides. Doubles the print handling. Most jewellers do not need it, since the pouch sits face up in the box.
  • Non-stock fabric colours. A specific brand shade means a dyed roll with its own minimum. For small orders, pick the nearest stock colour.
  • Cord type. A satin ribbon drawstring looks better than a plain cord but costs more and needs knotting by hand.
  • Individual packing. We normally pack pouches in bundles of 100. Polybagging each pouch adds labour and plastic you probably do not want.

What does not save much: shaving 1 cm off the size. Fabric is a small part of a pouch's cost. Cutting, stitching, threading the cord and printing are where the money goes.

Putting your logo on a small pouch

An 8 x 10 cm pouch gives you a print area of roughly 5 x 5 cm once you allow for seams and the drawstring channel. That is smaller than a business card. Logos that look elegant on a shop board often fail here, especially thin serif fonts and long taglines.

Print methods that work

Screen printing is our standard for non-woven pouches. It gives solid, even colour and is the cheapest per piece once the screen is made. Gold or silver metallic ink on a black or maroon pouch is the combination jewellers ask about most, and it suits the product. You can see more about the process on our screen printed bags page.

Embroidery looks lovely on cotton and canvas, but on a small non-woven pouch it tends to pucker the fabric. We only suggest embroidered branding on larger pouches or on cases where the panel is stiff.

Debossing is the right choice for PU-leather cases. The logo is pressed into the surface with a heated die, so there is no ink to rub off. It is subtle and it lasts. On the quilted gifting case we can also print the logo on the exterior if you want a colour.

Artwork checklist before you send it

  • Send a vector file (AI, CDR, EPS or a vector PDF). A logo screenshot from WhatsApp will not print sharply at 4 cm wide.
  • Keep lines at least 0.5 mm thick. Anything finer fills in on non-woven fabric.
  • Give us Pantone references or a physical sample of your brand colour. Screen ink on matte fabric looks slightly darker than on a screen.
  • Drop the address and phone number. A website or Instagram handle under the logo is the most you should fit.

Drawstrings, finishing and the tarnish question

Small details decide whether a pouch survives a month on a busy counter. These are the ones we check on our quality control table before dispatch.

  • Cord channel. Double-stitched, with the cord running freely. If you have to tug the cord to close the pouch, staff will tear it within a week.
  • Cord ends. Knotted ends or small stoppers, so the cord does not pull out when a customer opens the pouch in a hurry.
  • Cord colour. Matched to the pouch or to your logo ink. A white cord on a black pouch gets grey and dirty fast.
  • Seams. Turned inside so there are no loose threads to snag earring hooks or prongs.
  • Print cure. Ink fully dried before packing so there is no smell and no transfer onto the next pouch in the bundle.

Will a pouch stop silver from tarnishing?

Not on its own, and any supplier who says otherwise is overselling. Silver darkens mainly because of sulphur compounds in the air. Rubber is a known culprit, so never put a rubber band around silver pieces or bundles of pouches holding silver. A plain fabric pouch slows tarnish by keeping air and handling down, and it stops scratches. For silver stores, we suggest adding a small anti-tarnish strip or silica gel sachet inside the pouch for pieces that will sit in stock for months, and making sure pieces are completely dry before they go in.

Pouch, box or case: match it to the piece

A simple rule we give buyers is to let the selling price of the piece decide the packaging. It keeps the packaging budget sensible and makes sure the expensive pieces feel expensive.

  • Pieces under about Rs 5,000: a branded non-woven drawstring pouch, handed over in a store carry bag. Our bags for retail stores page has the carry bag side of this.
  • Rs 5,000 to Rs 50,000: the pouch inside a small box, carried out in a good paper bag. A gold foil paper bag does a lot of the work here, and our custom printed paper bags guide covers sizes and costs.
  • Bridal and high-value sets: a structured case, ideally debossed. The customer keeps it, and your name stays on their dressing table.

For corporate buyers the logic is a little different. When jewellery or silver coins are part of a Diwali or anniversary gift, the case is part of the gift. We often pack cases inside larger festival gift hampers, and our post on corporate gifting bags for Diwali has more on planning those programmes. Wedding families ordering silver return gifts can read our wedding return gift bags guide for quantities and timelines.

Plan pouch orders around the jewellery calendar

Jewellery demand in India bunches around a few dates: Dhanteras and Diwali, Akshaya Tritiya, and the wedding months. Pouch orders bunch around the same dates, which means our cutting floor is busiest exactly when you need your pouches fastest.

A realistic timeline for a first order looks like this. Artwork back and forth takes one to two days. A printed sample takes three to five working days. Production takes 7 to 12 working days for drawstring pouches and 10 to 15 for cases. Then add road transit: Mumbai and nearby cities in a day or two, most metros in three to six days. So plan on four to five weeks from first enquiry to pouches on your counter, and add a week if you want cases.

Repeat orders are much faster, because the screen and the approved sample already exist. A pattern that works well is one large order before the festive season and a smaller top-up before the wedding months. Storing pouches is easy. They are flat and light, and 1,000 small pouches fit in a carton smaller than a suitcase.

We ship pouches across India from Mumbai, including to jewellers in Delhi through our bag supply for Delhi buyers, and we export bags to the Gulf. If you are in Dubai or elsewhere in the Emirates, see our bag supplier page for the UAE for shipping and lead times.

Minimum order quantity and mixing sizes

Our MOQ for jewellery pouches and cases is 500 pieces for a standard size with a single-colour print. That number is set by print setup. Making a screen and setting up the print table costs about the same for 500 pieces as for 5,000, so below 500 the setup cost per piece gets silly.

Smaller jewellers often ask if they can split 500 pieces across two sizes. Usually yes, as long as the same logo and ink colour run on both. Tell us the split when you enquire and we will confirm the mixed-batch price. The general rules for all our products are on the minimum order quantity page.

If you only need 100 pouches for a pop-up or an exhibition, plain stock pouches with a printed sticker or a hang tag are a sensible stop-gap. Once you know which size sells, move to a printed order of 500 or more.
